All hallows Eve!

It's that time of year again......Halloween! I absolutely adore Halloween, it is so much fun!  This weekend  is the Irish bank holiday where us older "trick or treater's"  will be out for one night only in our array of costumes. I adore the idea of going out looking as ridiculous or as amazing as you want and not giving a care! The Costume Shop offer great sexy, fun and scary costumes at great prices. Here are my favourite!

Halloween isn't for everyone but you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb either in your pretty pink dress. Burgundy, red, black, purple, teal and navy are great colours to wear on this festive night. Velvet, lace and leather are perfect to create your outfit and matching with fun accessories can add character to your outfit! Missguided have a great range of clothes and footwear to suit your darker side!

This post is quite late going up but better late than never! The Listowel Races are held every year in the town where I'm from and I always look forward to Ladies Day! Mind you I've never won, a lot of politics is involved! It is so much fun dressing up and how often do you get to wear a hat/fascinator? My friend Lisa came with me so you can imagine the excitement! My brother was also home form London which was extra special. A dress, structured jacket preferably winter wear, matching hat and respectable heels should get you a winner or at least noticed however being on trend and fashionable is more fun for me.  I opted for a monochrome structured suit look, with a black tailored jumpsuit, white blazer and monochrome clutch. I must say this jumpsuit from Missguided is so comfortable and it it is fabulous on. I always found jumpsuits to be baggy around my butt but this fitted perfectly!! I wore gold jewellery both from H&M. I adore the bracelet. The circle reminds me of karma "what goes around comes around", which I am a strong believer in! Our fascinator's were rented from No.15 situated on Thomas St, in Limerick City. We had our picture taken by a professional photographer at the races to hear it had made it into a national paper, even the front cover! Exciting! If there is ever a race day near you, do go they are so much fun!

Get it right, Burgundy!

Burgundy is the colour to have this season and what's so exciting is that it is that it is so versatile and can be worn through fashion, accessories and make-up. These are my favourite picks in all different shapes and forms! Wear it casually, dress it up, wear it with sequins, wear it with leather to create the most fashionable look. If the colour is too much for you as a main piece, incorporate it through patterned fabrics like the jumpsuit above, or through a scarf  or fedora hat. Even mix it with different fabrics like the leather block jacket. I am so excited about the make-up, I love dark nails and lips and this is such an amazing colour. If there isn't a Topshop near you, Rimmel's Kate Moss matte range have a similar colour in "merlot". Again, if you want the simplistic approach to the burgundy trend, colour just your lips or nails or both!!

Even though it's not a neutral colour, it is a colour that matches well with many shades. Browns, golds, creams, and blacks are great palettes to work off when styling burgundy. Tie in seasonal trends like above such as an  animal print scarf, black and gold toe cap ankle boots and a block two toned cream tote. If the animal print is too much for you, something simpler such as a gold chain or cream lace or pearl collar will transform this dress.

There has been such a drop in temperatures recently. it's time to wrap up! I love winter fashion, it's so cosy and you can mix and match so many different things in your wardrobe. I love wool jumpers and always buy them a size bigger to ensure maximum warmth! I wasn't too sure whether or not to put my white crop trousers up in the attic but with this jumper I'm delighted I didn't.  I think white is nice for those dark winter days.

When I opened the packaging I was so impressed with what I saw! The skirt and top were separately packed in plastic wrapping and on hangers, so I received it in perfect, crease free condition. 

Here is how I styled it.....

As it was September  I pulled the crop top down to meet the waist of the skirt to create a dress effect. With the block colouring and paneling  it creates a great effect of the clinching in the waist and creating a great silhouette. I teamed it with a chunky gold necklace and for those colder days, I paired it with this green and white cropped sweater. I'm excited about this piece, as orange is big for SS14, so I know these items will carry me straight into next season.
